I have thought about it, and if I found a few people who were serious about maintaining and developing it, I would certainly do so. There are some parts of the code depend on commercial libraries and would need to be re-implemented. It’s probably not more than a few days work.
I agree. The phrase “the process is broken” is too dismissive. It give PMs an excuse to ignore the process. You need to really understand the process that is getting the job done now.
Once you really understand it, you can still decide to throw it all out and start from scratch, but it will be an informed decision.
We looked at Workiva. They have some nice stuff. Never considered approaching them for a licence. Actually most of the basic font end functionality, red-lining, editing, etc can be built with open-soruce libraries.
