“Counties” do not vote. People do.

More people, throughout the country, voted for Clinton.

Additionally, there were plenty of PEOPLE who voted for Hillary in counties that “voted for Trump.”

The Republican beloved “small state / large state” argument misses the point that most states were a close call, throughout the country. Plus, under the existing EC system, many small states are already irrelevant. Rhode Island voters will never change the election outcome, one way or another, just as an example. Same goes for many other smaller states.

Finally, the EC was a compromise to get slave owning states to join the union, not to protect small states.
