Many votes from small states are already irrelevant.

Just as one of many examples, one of my friends from Rhode Island told me, on the morning of the election, that his vote “wouldn’t matter anyway.” And he was right.

The Electoral College wasn’t designed to protect small states against large ones. It was a compromise to get slave owning states to join the union.

However, states cannot violate U.S. Constitutional provisions, which includes equal protection for all citizens (not states) under the law.
