If melodic noises are harnessed together they cultivate a natural phenomenal called music. A universal treat we all can agree on. The noises and vibrations that are exerted out are picked up from our senses of touch and hear to be consumed by our brain. Rushes of dopamine can juice the brain when we hear good music. Hence we all are different, we all have a different savor and taste for melodic noises. We all have our favorite genre and we all have a genre we despise.
You may be a fan of classic hip hop or a lover of rocker and roll, but our brain still works in the same way. Multiple areas of the brain are activated sparking different sensations in our mind and body. Some songs trigger the limbic part of our brain which holds memory so we get nostalgia from certain songs. This is just one area of the brain afflicted with music, there are multiple. Music does magic to the brain, it can completely change your mood, help you concentrate, insert a mental stream of motivation. Now, let us talk deeper on the beauty of music.
Music can be a mental refugee for some people. Some people feel sane because of music, some people don’t feel lonely because of music, some people feel complete with music. Now we all experience the sensations differently, but when have you heard of someone who doesn’t like music? Music brings people together, music is culture, music is a taste of life. In fact even animals and plants seem to reap the rewards of listening to music. There’s an interesting experiment on how plants would lean towards the area where classical music was playing and then scientist analyzed the plant to find more positive hormones in that plant. This universal phenomenal eases and treats the mind who is moving along the arrow of life. Music has been with us from all time and ages and it is not going anywhere.
Modern day musicians are in a new epoch in the music culture. A musician from 50 years would look at our present day music and be surprised to say the least, about new music. This is because we live in a more complicated and fast moving world. Media is being disrupted so our brain picks what is best for it. We live in a time where we are in a blizzard of information every day. From tweets, news, ads, texts, etc. Understand that our brain is a cognitive miser so it wants to save as much energy as possible. New music is fairly simple from the word play and not much diversification in instruments and noises. That is fine for the brain because it is just moving along and listen to a song that does not require much mental effort to reap the rewards. A good song has tunes and pitches that are somewhat familiar and not to difficult for us to listen to. That is why our music in this era is so different that Bach and Beethoven’s music.
Hundreds of pages can be spawned to discuss music but I gave my short attempt to summarize some relevant components in music. Music is a universal treat for our brain. We may all have a different taste for music but regardless, it is still music. Music will always be evolving and so shall we, but one thing is for sure, enjoying melodic noises will always something we do.
