What is a tippy?

A tippy is a private message that might include a tip.

How do I send a tippy?

To send a Tippy, go to the user’s profile and click “Send Tippy”. From there, enter a message, enter the tip amount, and pay with Bitcoin.

How do I pay with Bitcoin?

The easiest way is with Coinbase. If you don’t have a Coinbase account, we’ll send you $5 in Bitcoin, free.

If you do have a Coinbase account, make sure you have enough Bitcoin in your account to send the tippy and then complete the checkout process. If you don’t have enough, you can buy more in Coinbase.

For users who use a different Bitcoin Wallet, just send the appropriate amount of Bitcoin to the address given in the checkout page.

What is Tippy’s affiliation with Coinbase?

Tippy uses Coinbase internally as a Bitcoin Wallet. Tippy leverages their referral program to offer new users $5 in free Bitcoin. Tippy is not owned by Coinbase and no employee or contractor of Coinbase works on Tippy. We’re just a fan of Coinbase ☺

What is Coinbase?

Coinbase is a secure, venture-funded Bitcoin Wallet with millions of users. Upon signing up, they’ll ask you to enter your bank account information to verify your identity. That information will stay within Coinbase and will not be sent to Tippy. If you haven’t used Coinbase before and you used the referral link, it may take up to 5 minutes after verifying your account for the free Bitcoin to propagate to your Coinbase account. The free Bitcoin offer only applies for new Coinbase users.

Will Tippy accept credit card payments?

Maybe in the future.

How do I send a feature request to Tippy?

How does Tippy make money?

Tippy takes a 15% commission on all tips. This helps cover the cost of servers.
