Lovely! Heifetz is the violinist I love listening to. Everytime I listen to his phrasing I cannot help thinking “oh this is how should sound like!”
He made great recordings, having all the concerto repertoire, the crazy showpieces from Saint-Saëns, Lalo and Sarasate. Recordings of important violin Sonatas as well…
However what I absolutely love from him is the small pieces arrangements like Schubert’s Ave Maria (stunning double stops), or Debussy’s Fille aux Cheveux de Lin, or even majestic Korngold’s Garden Scene. These are gems.
