Meat & Veggie Package
Grandma Pat made this for me. She got the original recipe from some magazine and it used chicken and green beans. We’ve messed around with this recipe a lot. But you can use any combination that you find tasty. You need four things for the filling: meat, cheese, a veggie, some lemon juice (or other acid). This is a great use of leftovers.
Two Tubes of Crescent Roles
2 cups Meat, Poultry, Fleshy Substance
1 1/2 cup of Veggie
Cheese — Shredded
Cook the flesh substance any way you choose. If using fresh veggies, cook them first, again anyway you choose. If you prefer them to be crunchy, then you can leave them uncooked. Grease a 9 inch glass cooking dish. Line the bottom with one tub of crescent roles.
If you are using something like potatoes, put them in first, otherwise put in a layer of meat. If you put the meat in first, next put in the veggies. Sprinkle lemon juice. Add the amount of cheese desired. Cover with second package of crescent roles.
Bake at 375 degrees for 20 min. Check. If dough is still gooey, bake for another 5–10 min.
