This entire narrative rings exactly like Brave New World (A. Huxley), doesn’t it?

I didn’t know the sort of constant drinking discussed in the piece really exists. In what industry can you actually drink during work hours? That’s entirely out of the picture at my whole (chemical) company — engineers to operators to accountants. People I work with are bashful about even ordering a beer during company dinners.
