Another philosophical question for you todd, why do you think we compare.

Ultimately, I think humans need to feel significant.

We go after it in many different ways — a bigger car, as many sexual partners, or maybe just violence — but at the end of the day, we need to know we matter.

Comparison, for some, serves as a benchmark for that significance. If we are doing better than John Doe, we are significant. If Sally has a better car than us, we are insignificant.

It’s a big question, and I’m sure I haven’t even scratched the surface yet.
