The Poetry of Silence

I have written poems since childhood. Not every day, sometimes not for years. In fact, whole decades of writing have gone by without a poem. At other times, though, I can’t restrain the rush of poetry coming from my pen.

Here is one of my earliest poetic attempts, written when I was about 12 or 13 years of age. This slightly revised version appeared many years later, sometime during the early 1990s, in some small literary journal (I don’t recall now which one and can’t find my copy — if I come across it I will update this post with an appropriate acknowledgement and citation of the publication):
