The Apple-Google shift

Agree completely — and you’re indeed even missing one more key point — which is the pricing!

There are a ton of really decent Androids in the $200 area. I have a Nexus 4 which cost me that, new and unlocked, and I’ve abused that thing for years and it still works flawlessly.

I am simply not willing to spend $600 on a new phone! I might lose it or break it (and let me tell you that so many of my Apple friends have cracked screens).

There are a tiny number of iPhone apps that I might be interested in — but I’m also interested in spending as little as possible on my phone simply so I don’t spend a chunk of my life with my face in it.

There are a lot of people like me out there — who just want a phone to make phone calls on and do navigation while out and about.
