Suppose you had a friend in jail. What advice would you give them? “You should try to escape”?
You wouldn’t do that (I hope) because not only are the chances of succeeding poor, it would put your friend in a worse position — “escaped prisoner”.
Studying yoga, on the other hand, is a chance to really escape — to escape the bad place in your own head.
There’s a famous song by the saxophonist Art Pepper called The Trip — which is about the storytelling that went on in San Quentin prison. It’s called “The Trip” because the only way to take a trip out of San Quentin was with your imagination.
