I was nodding my head and agreeing — until I got to the end and I realized that you didn’t actually have any policy proposals at all, or really, were talking about anything “left” at all!

Given that you’re a political insider, it’s really really hard not to say something cynical at this point. What possible appeal does your non-message have when we are in a crisis?

As a society, the USA needs urgently to deal with these issues:

  1. Climate change.
  2. The endless foreign wars and the military industrial complex.
  3. The destruction of the American working class and the loss of the career-oriented job.
  4. Income inequity in general.
  5. Health care.
  6. Government surveillance.
  7. Relentless Wall Street wrongdoing — why was Reagan the last President to actually prosecute senior bankers?
  8. One law for the rich, another for the poor; the rich seem to be above the law, while the poor have their lives destroyed for minuscule offenses. This category also includes the relentless persecution of whistleblowers that was a hallmark of the Obama administration.

As a member of Mr. Obama’s government, there is very little light between your opinions on many these matters and those of the Republicans. Both the Democrats and the Republicans are insanely pro-war. Neither believe that the law should apply to powerful people. Both parties are firmly in the laps of Wall Street — neither has anything to offer the working man: I still remember bitterly early in the first Obama administration when I realized he was going to protect the investment bankers from the consequences of their felonious actions, even going to bat for their filthy bonuses, while simultaneously throwing the workers and the pensioners to the wolves.

If you want to see the problem, look yourself in the mirror. Your team had eight years to deliver for us, and instead you delivered for the rich, for the military, for the spies, for the drone makers, for Big Pharm and Big Insurance — and then you had the nerve to tell people that America was already great — that you weren’t going to do fuck all for them and if they were suffering it was there fault. No wonder you lost all branches of government, to literally the most unpopular Presidential candidate in history, a man who can’t even emit a coherent sentence.

You utterly deserve the disaster that befell you. The pity is all the innocent Americans who will suffer because of your failure.

America won’t recover until we get a real left-wing party who will address these issues, not mealy-mouthed equivocators bereft of any moral center.
