The Cafe (Jord Edition)
The cold rain began to pour as I stepped into the store located on the corner of a busy street. My coat was covered in the early drops of rain from the sky, and I did not want to feel anymore colder. And to my bad luck — the café was even colder than the surrounding outside.
I sat in front of the barista as he looked over with a glance that suggested he hated his job, probably most of the customers were from the office right across this café. The assholes there were always grumpy as hell. Bumped into a few of them the night before and they smelled of beer and cat piss. Absolutely disgusting.
So far — my day has been pretty grey. Nothing eventful even happened. Was filled with studying and revising for my upcoming Mathematics exam, and it was pretty stressful. I had to memorize one hundred different ways to write the same formula for a single algebra question. At this rate — I’m really regretting my choice in majoring mathematics.
The coffee served to me was nothing special. It tasted pretty bland with a hint of whip cream in it or something. I couldn’t tell. It was bland to the point I treated it as normal water. No wonder the office workers were always grumpy. The drinks here tasted like complete crap.
Perhaps the only thing I really cared about today was a single girl that sat next to me when I finished my coffee. There was something… weird about her. Her aura gave off this feeling that she was someone who was interesting and fun to talk to. Her red hair was a rare sight in this state of America. I got a good glimpse of her — trying not to be creepy. She had green eyes. Rare sight too. As much as I wanted to continue to look at her, she had already noticed my drink was empty. And if I stayed any longer she would have known I was just attempting to stalk her. I noticed she did not even order a drink — but the barista knew what to make as soon as she arrived. Must be a regular.
I walked out of the café feeling more refreshed. Not because of the bland, tasteless coffee. But because there was an actual reason to visit this side of the street now.
