Defeating the Uncomfortable

Your Comfort zone is a psychological state in which a person feels familiar, at ease, in control and experiences low anxiety and stress. -https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comfort_zone

As individuals age their ability to navigate the uncomfortable diminishes. Over time our reluctance to expose ourselves beyond comfort reduces our range of security, thus, common social activities become challenging. Lack of action and social contact augment the ability to reach one’s full potential.

Self-awareness is imperative to identify the subconscious reduction of our individual comfort zone. Often our comfort zone is visible in social settings but only to ourselves. Becoming self-aware of our discomforts allows us to construct a strategy and take action.

Stretching ourselves beyond our ordinary comfort is a work in progress. It starts with simple daily activities such as trying a new restaurant, having coffee with a co-worker acquaintance, or striking up a conversation with stranger. As you consistently continue to push yourself beyond your comfort zone your radius of comfort will increase. You only live once and outside your comforts zone is where the magic happens.
