As another child of the south I was informed what my schoolbooks and neighbors told me. One thing I never saw were the actual Articles of Inducement for Secession. Reading that, the document created by the seceding states, it changed a lot of what you were led to believe. I was led to believe that this was about state’s rights and that was true but only under the context that the rights they were pursuing was to continue the enslavement of a race of people. Some states, for the informed, even argued that slavery should be expanded and abolition was a reason for violence against Southerners. Not only that but the primary concern of every state except South Carolina was, indeed, slavery.

The single most fascinating thought about the Civil War is the recognition that there was a REAL vast conspiracy in the south to cover up the true hate and disregard for black people that permeated the south.
