This weekend Chicago s the host city for the America’s Cup Sailing Championship of the world. This is this 1st year in the 164 th storied history of he America’s Cup ( held every 4 years in the Country f the last Champion.
in 2012 America won the Championship and Chicago was designated as the host city for 2016.
Well over 250, ooo are expected to view the final event just off the pier in Lake Michigan.
In 1968 at age 12 I used to sell newspapers at McCormick Place and then ride my bike and meet my mother at the pier. she was an executive assistant to the manager of the Pier.
On St.Patricks day my mother and her boss dyed the Chicago River green.
My mother has passed but if she were alive today she would not recognize the pier of today
