Find out how birth order and birth season can make a big difference in how we behave!

Learning how many things influence ‘the way we are’ is rather surprising and thought-provoking. This knowledge is valuable, whether playing match-maker or deal-maker! This type of research is just another nugget that helps me understand myself and the people around me. When we become aware of how things like birth order and birth season sway our development, we can make adjustments that help us win friends and influence people.

Disclaimer: my firstborn frame of reference shapes all my interactions!

Parents are more strict with the firstborn than they are with later children (hand-raised!). Studies show this is why firstborn students get better grades. FYI — figuring out how birth order impacts blended families is an industry unto itself!

Can Birth Order Determine Your Career?

The study of birth order runs deep and has been an industry for some time. Knowing the birth order has been helpful in all my relationships, personal and professional! Here is a link to a guy who has made a career out of it:

What Your Birth Order Says About Your Personality

Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey and Beyoncé — all repping the firstborn over-achievers. Out of the first 44 presidents of the United States, 24 were firstborn children or firstborn sons; out of the first 23 NASA astronauts sent into space, 21 were firstborn children. George W. Bush and Bill Clinton were also firstborn. Drumpf is (kinda) a firstborn. My favorite firstborn role model, Barack Obama, is also a “summer child” (more on that later). He’s also repping we “fire signs” pretty well — a subject good for a whole ‘nother article of its own!

Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer’s Day — birth order, birth season and the leaders of the free world!

Some researchers say looking at our birth season might help explain why some people are more moody than others. Certain biochemicals present in winter and summer babies are still present later in life. Eleven presidents were summer babies (the fewest of all the seasons — winter has the most by a hair). All of the last five presidents (George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and now, Drumpf) were born during the summer months.

The season you’re born in affects your moodiness

These are just a few of the many angles to my favorite subject, what some refer to as “pop psychology.” Some might call it “profiling” but anything that helps us get a better understanding of why we do what we do might lead to more peace on earth! So stay on the lookout for more clues to help you read people better and improve how people read YOU!

Bonus tip: Working hard, if not smart

If you have ever wondered how to help that one child of yours who seems a little “slower” than your others, start by instilling a hard-work ethic:
