Silicon Valley Is Not Just A Place, It Is A State of Mind

Silicon Valley — The Disneyland for tech lovers. An open-minded habitat for founders, investors, software engineers, researchers, entrepreneurs, product managers, designers, and digital marketers. More emphatically, a place for people with big ideas for changing the world.

Located in San Francisco’s Bay Area, California. Thanks to William R. Hewlett and David Packard who took their professor’s advice, Dr. Frederick Terman, to start their company there — the first-ever tech company in Paulo Alto. Winks!😉 They started in the garage too.

Today, silicon valley is home to tech companies like; Apple, Hewlett Packard, Google, Oracle, Intel, Cisco, Facebook, Broadcom, Adobe, eBay, Twitter, and the host of many others.

We all know that a great future lies there. Moving there as an entrepreneur is highly promising. Getting a tech job there is like a dream come true. It’s just a business-oriented habitat but a place that favours quick collaboration, learning, and opportunity.

You know you’re there because you’re a risk-taker. You know you’re there because you’re trying out something innovative. You know you’re there because you’re a champion.

Alright, I know what you’re thinking right now. What’s all this glorification all about. You’ve heard a lot, you wished you were there. Nice… no worries, you will get there in a minute.

In fact, your getting there depends on how fast you can read up this article. Calm down, just relax, I know the big question ringing in your head right now. How is that even possible?

How Do I Get To Silicon Valley By Reading This Article?

Finding the answer to this question is like trying to know what silicon valley really stands for and how it operates.

Not everybody has to be in silicon valley to start doing great things. All we need is to wake the silicon valley inside of us.

Now, this sounds strange but keep reading and you’ll get to unravel the secrets that will change your life forever.

In 2016, I came across a youtube video, it was a research made by Michele D’Aliessi And Li Jiang of (Y)pact about silicon valley. They interviewed early founders who recently moved to the valley to start their company. I noticed most of the founders they interviewed emphasized the energy and mindset of the silicon valley dwellers.

Silicon Valley: Energy and Mindset

Being around people doing the same crazy thing as you or something you’re passionate about is communicable energy on its own. Everybody is committed to doing something meaningful. When you’re around this set of people, the energy gets transferred to you to do the same.

The truth about this energy is that it is inward not outward. Meaning it’s already inside you. It only gets to manifestation when you connect to a stronger force outside. So this is how you ignite the silicon valley spirit in you.

The next question that comes into your mind is “How then can we get connected to this network from anywhere in the world and recreate this mindset?”

First of all, you need to find your passion, when you find it, go for it. Never be scared to fail. All failure is a failure to adapt, all success is a successful adaptation.

Passion:

People who are passionate about a cause are ready to do what it takes to achieve their purpose in life. Find a problem that you’re interested in and think of ways to solve this problem. You must understand that this energy is right inside you but waiting to be awakened by a cause.

Avoid procrastination:

If there’s one thing our minds are good at constructing, it’s excuses not to do something difficult. The silicon valley guys don’t do that. They try to solve problems as fast as they can.

Now having said all this, you won’t be surprised if I go then to say; The name “silicon valley’’ is just a nickname giving to a place that reminds you of innovation, creativity, risk-taking attitude, and startups.

Reminder Gate

The southern Sans Fransico Bay Area called silicon valley is just serving as a Reminder Gate. The fundamental force that causes places like silicon valley to emerge comes from the endless efforts of creators trying to create values and make people’s lives better. Therefore, all you need to do is to picture silicon valley as your reminder gate. Think of it not as a place but as a state of mind.

Be it from your Bedroom, office, garage, or kitchen as long as you can picture what’s going on in silicon valley and what it stands for (reminder gate), nothing can stop you from connecting with that energy. It immediately grows to become your foundation which strengthens your confidence.

And the most interesting part is that you will draw the attention of so many others to your success and before you know it, you’re already recreating another reminder gate for other people around you. That’s how the energy and mindset flows.

Let The Idea Of Silicon Valley Be Your Drive?

  • Don’t be that person who’s waiting for people’s approval before they do anything they believe. No! silicon valley guys don’t do that. We go for what we believe in, the vision we see and we start working on it to make others believe. Action beats words day and night. Be a doer and not a talker.
  • Always think of how to establish reminder gates (silicon valley) in your own ecosystem to influence other techies around, hence passing them the energy to learn and build more solutions.
  • According to Steve Jobs, He said and I quote “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work and the only way to do great work is to love what you do.” Yeah! these words are directly from a silicon valley legend.
  • Note this point clearly, You don’t need a fancy office, house, car, environment, job, attention, and perfect idea to get started, you just need to start from somewhere, after all, you don’t need to be in your comfort zone at all to make effective decisions. You just need to decide, learn, and create. If you’re a group, every member of that group must be aligned with the vision of the company.

Finally; Never forget to pray and hope in God, for in all things, God is the owner and author of our life, wisdom, and ideas, keep your faith tight, work hard and at the right time he will bless and favour you.

Silicon valley is a mindset, not a location.

Silicon valley to me is not a physical place. it’s an idea, and it’s gone viral and spread around the world. We’re in the beginning of a revolution where we are inspiring humans to think of themselves as entrepreneurs…that every human can be an entrepreneur and the whole world is a startup itself
