Where We Droppin’?

Ahhhhhh battle royale games; free to play games (although you do need to be able to play online to actually play these games) where you connect with people around the world in the fight to find the last man standing. For all the blue haired Ninjas and YouTubers that play this game, these online free for alls are tons of fun.

On that note…

WELCOME BACK to Top Odds and consider this your guide to online play, as today I count down my top 5 Battle Royale Games.

#5 Tetris 99

Geek®

Yes, you heard me loud and clear. Tetris. The youngest entry on this list, Tetris 99 is the new game where you play against 98 other players to see who is the best Tetris player around. I know it sounds boring, but as a Tetris player myself, I find that this game is actually action packed and full of fun.

This all new twist on a classic game has been released for the Nintendo Switch (yeah, Nintendo took charge on this one),and it has no tutorial, so you are thrown in to the game right away. Luckily for beginners, there are guides on how to play and some tricks to help boost your game.

#4 Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Fandom®

Deploy, Scavenge, Survive in this all new installment of Call of Duty’s Black Ops series. Probably the most realistic out of all of these games, Black Ops 4’s Blackout Mode has you play against others in one of two maps: The traditional Blackout Map, or, the more exciting and ruthless, Alcatraz.

In regards to the concept of shoot em up battle royales, this game doesn’t really put its main focus on this type of play, as it is a Call of Duty game with a Call of Duty storyline, thus putting it at #4.

#3 PlayerUnkown Battlegrounds (PUBG)

Pinterest®

The game that started it all. PUBG has been an inspiration to what battle royale games have become. A mere 2 years ago (quick shout out to anybody reading this beyond 2019), PUBG was released and redefined video game popularity, and it spawned many games that pay homage to PUBG over the following 2 years until today.

Who knows what the future holds for battle royale gaming, but whatever it is, it all started with PUBG. So to all battle royale gamers, say your thanks, show your appreciation, and tip your cap to the grand daddy of it all.

#2 Fortnite

Fiverr®

Probably the most internet famous on this list, Fortnite has spawned countless YouTube videos, and it even helped get a random blue haired gamer a Samsung sponsor. Ninja is credited to be the world’s best Fortnite player with 440 wins (and still growing) and 7,075 kills.

HOWEVER, while Fortnite is a great game, my biggest problem with it is the building. Why do you need to build? I don’t get it. Also all the minigames, what purpose do they serve? Aside from those two issues (YES I HAVE BIAS), Fortnite is an incredibly popular game that deserves to be recognized.

#1 Apex Legends

Sporting News®

My personal favourite, Apex Legends is an amazing game that puts you into teams of three against 29 other teams. 30 teams, 60 players, one huge map, and a good ole’ time, Apex allows you to communicate with your teammates, ping stuff to help support your team, and with a large amount of load-outs, you’ll be coming back for more. Apex fixes one huge problem that pretty much every other game has; NO FALL DAMAGE! Jump as high as you want to your heart’s content.

Now let’s talk characters. Each character has three abilities: a passive ability (one that is automatic), a tactical ability (one that is useable every thirty seconds), and an ultimate ability (one that has to charge up). There are a total of 10 characters in the game, and they are all unique from each other.

AAAAAAAND that’s my list! Disagree? Did I miss a game? Comment down below with your thoughts, and be sure to follow for new lists. Check me out on Instagram at Top_Odds and Facebook at Facebook.com/Top0dds. Have a great day and always remember, Keep. It. Real.
