As Tophatter continues to grow, we’ve found that our marketplace is best suited for Professional eCommerce Sellers who are running well-established, high-growth businesses.

First 9 month revenue growth of a Tophatter Partner.

Characteristics of Tophatter Partners

1. Established businesses that desire to sell 100's–10,000's + items, every week

Almost every one of our new Partners says something along the lines of, “We’re looking for new channels to rapidly expand our business.” New Sellers on Tophatter are able to start selling and shipping 100 items per week at a minimum.

2. Own a commercial warehouse

Sellers that do not have warehouses with sophisticated shipping and logistics capabilities you are unlikely to be able to grow with the rest of the marketplace.

3. Can assign a member of your team to manage Tophatter

Tophatter is not an “add inventory and forget about it” marketplace. Like building any other large business partnership, managing Tophatter takes daily effort by someone who understands eCommerce. See Seller Case Studies for tips.

4. eCommerce experience on multiple marketplaces

There are many large wholesale businesses that want to grow their sales, but do not have experience selling on eCommerce marketplaces. For large businesses that do not have experience in eCommerce, it’s going to take you longer to get up to speed.

5. $100,000 — $1,000,000+ annual revenue

If you are running a business doing less than $100,000 in revenue, it is unlikely that you fit the profile of a Tophatter Partner. Most of our Top Partners are generating millions of dollars in sales across multiple marketplaces. There are some exceptions: including fashion brands, electronics brands and beauty brands.

6. Unique access to a large volume of low-priced products

Tophatter is a site where shoppers come looking for great deals at up to 80% off retail. Tophatter Partners usually have direct access to product from a manufacturer or items that are being liquidated by large retailers or brands.

Tophatter is not a fit for:

1. Casual sellers who want to sell a small number of products

Sites like eBay, Etsy, Craigslist, OfferUp, and other similar marketplaces are much better platforms for casual sellers to sell small quantities of items. Tophatter’s fees and policies are geared towards businesses who sell in volume with higher margins.

2. Sellers who don’t want to grow their business

Tophatter is best-suited for Professional eCommerce Sellers who want to grow their business, every week. If you do not have a large available inventory of items listed in your store, you are much less likely to see your items being scheduled.

If you do not meet the characteristics of a Tophatter Partner at this time, we are excited to work with you in the future.
