Numero Uno: Your Website

Elegant, warm, friendly, and understandable: These are characteristics of a great website. Website design isn’t easy, and can be a daunting task if you’re not passionate about tech. Everyone has a mobile device, information is easily accessible, and word of mouth won’t grab you the sale. The internet can play tricky things to a business if not handled correctly. Website have to be numero uno.

Social media is great. It is fantastic when it comes to finding new leads and creating new relationships with customers, but it’s nothing without a solid foundation. When auditing accounts, I do this frequently, I see good community engagement, well layed out profile, and a link to their address. When I click the website link I am welcomed by block lettering, unattractive graphics, and information scattered on the home screen. It’s a disaster. All the hard work established on a great social profile is all for nothing. The moment my eyes caught the homepage, I knew I was in a bad place. Websites are are validation for people. If your not on the interent you don’t exist, if you have a crappy website your out of business. Operating a company out of a garage is very unattractive, operating your company from a 2005 website is even more unattractive.

The website is the second home for a business. It establishes trust, credibility, and an initial relationship. The relative cost of website is cheap compared to the standards of a brick-in-morder operation. A clean and dressed up website only costs $8,000 to $10,000. Justifying this cost for a businesses is easy when it comes to future sales, and excitement around your events. Having a weak presence on the internet is almost worse than having no presence at all. The website has to a be a high priority of any businesses.
