Thank you for sharing one of your favourite quotes Jennifer. I can identify with Lahiri’s idea of what it’s like to be a foreigner. The lifelong pregnancy comparison suggests an expectation that is never realised, and the ‘continuous feeling out of sorts’ is spot on. The last two years in particular have been emotionally draining, but I’ve finally been able to move back home. There’s a way to go for an ‘ordinary life’ again, but it feels right.
