Why does Sister Act work as a commercial religious movie while so many other faith-based movies don’t?

There are three schools of thought.

  1. Some of them didn’t want to be accessible for wider audiences. Too secular.
  2. Some of them tried to spread their message and simply failed to reach anyone who didn’t already believe.
  3. But only Sister Act fulfills the mission of its story: manifesting an accessible and impactful religious experience for people who don’t know how to praise.
