Q: Who is C3?
A: I'm an Iranian artist that does political protest art through minimalist paintings. I created my own universe called the dystopia and tell the stories that happen in that universe through different collections and characters.
Q: Who is your biggest inspiration in this space? Why?
A: Artists that are unapologetically themselves, tell their stories and stay true to their cause and stand up for it. Xcopy, Xer0x, Tjo, Jake Fried, Joe Pease, and Karisma to name some.
Q: What is the most exciting thing about Web3 for you as an artist? What about the most exciting thing to you about Web3 from a non-artistic point of view?
A: The power it has to give anyone from anywhere in the world a chance to make their voice heard. To get people together and unify them all. Non-artistic point of view would be the freedom to transact no matter where you are.
Q: What do you believe your biggest struggle in the Web3 space has been? Why? How do we change that?
A: That's a long list but the Opensea ban on Iranian artists has affected me and the reach of my art a lot. We can fix it by not being outright racist and being kinder to one another.
Q: What role do you see NFTs playing in the future of the art world?
A: I come from a traditional background in art. Been doing art just for the sake of art for long long years without an audience. Nfts will be changing and it will change everything about art. Digital is now the language of people and by talking in the language of people, nfts will change the structure of art.
Q: How do you see the relationship between technology and art evolving in the future?
A: The more powerful the tech gets the more powerful the art will get. At least that's my hope.
Q: What has been your favorite piece that you have created? Or maybe favorite is not the word. Maybe it’s the most memorable or most impactful piece you’ve created.
A: Throne of Blood is my genesis dystopian piece that started everything and shaped the whole style of my art in nfts. After that the last piece that I've done called The Valley of Death is my favorite from an artistic point of view, I see a lot of growth in my style and storytelling and maturity in it.
Q: I’d love to learn more about your artistic process, could you talk about that a little bit in relation to creating your most memorable piece?
A: I tell stories that are connected together inside the same universe and every piece that I do across all platforms is connected to the previous pieces and is a continuation of the story. When u have a story that is constant you are always trying to find ways to progress that same story through time. That is what I try to do with every piece.
Q: Your use of geometric shapes and clean lines are a distinctive element in your art. How do you balance the aesthetic qualities of your work with its political message?
A: Early in my career i understood that in order to be more visible i need a very distinct visual style and form that stands out in a crowd. Throughout all this time, nearly 2 years now, i tried to solidify that visual style as my own. The use of geometric and clean lines is part of that process as i have always been obsessed with clean curves and angles and lines in real life.
Q: Your use of diptychs, triptychs, and connected pieces creates a sense of narrative continuity in your work. How do you approach storytelling in your art, and what themes and messages do you hope to convey through these narratives?
A: I like continuity in stories and themes as i have a clear goal and mission in this career and that is to try to get the stories of my people out into the world as much as i can as best as i can. I see myself as a political activist. Everything i do is trying to get better and stronger in telling the stories of people that are being killed by the evilest people on earth. Apart from that i usually have an interest in the human psyche, the search for a higher meaning in life, and the dark corners of the human mind which i use as themes in my pieces.
Q: The last thing. I wanted this to be an open opportunity for you to share anything upcoming that you’re excited about!
A: I have been trying to make a generative abstract art collection with a friend of mine for a while, i don't know when it'll happen but till then i will continue telling the stories of dystopians, rebels, and outsiders.
