How can I get there?

Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake straddled the border between California and Nevada. People from California and Nevada can drive to the lake ,and most of the people depart from San Francisco and Sacramento.

It will cost hours to get there.

Train/Bus

There are many schedules of Amtrak from each Station of California. It will cost around 5 hours to get there. The schedules are different each day. So plan ahead!

Taking trains is a comfortable way to go to Tahoe

Flight

There is no airport nearby the lake Tahoe . The nearest one is settled in Reno,NV. So it is unavoidable to drive or take a long way trip.

Where to stay?

Staying over night in Tahoe area, most people would like to choose to stay in South Lake Tahoe or Stateline.

If you want to experience more about lake Tahoe, or there are many people in your travel team, you can book lodges by the lake on airbnb.com. But the price is higher than other inns or hotels, $200–$400 in average per night.

If you have limited budget, and you still want to sleep well at night with a good environment. You can choose to stay in the casino hotels located in Stateline, NV. The average price is about $100 per night. If you have already been over 21, you can also give it a shot in casino! Also, the Stateline has a really convenient traffic. There is only 30 min drive to Emerald Bay and Sand Harbor.

Where ever you want to stay in, plan ahead and made decision asap! Otherwise, the price will increasing really fast!

Where to have fun?

Before go to the Lake Tahoe, don’t forget to check the weather forecast. because The lake could totally reflect the color of the blue sky.And it could be totally black when the storm is coming. If there are sunny days during your trip, Congratulation! you will see a lake with extremely blue water , which just like a Sapphire is embedded ino mountains.

Although, Most of the parking lots and entertainment departments opens between 8am to an hour after the sunset which you will have plenty of time, go to the park as early as possible! The parking lots is small and there will be no space very soon. until the evening, there will be no new parking space for you.

One most important thing, you will see many people parking by the road. Never do that. Your car will be towed away, and that will definitely ruin your trip.

Sand Harbor:

Sand Harbor is located in Lake Tahoe State Park, which has the most beautiful beach of Lake Tahoe, many water sports and beach activities.

Paddling is popular water sport

You can bring your own equipments, and of course, you can also rent one by the beach.

Emerald Bay:

Emerald Bay is famous for its green lake water. There is a lake in the middle of the bay, which is the only island above the lake. From here, you can take the ship “Tahoe Queen” to have a round tour of the lake Tahoe.

No matter you go there in Summer or Winter., one thing you can not miss is the hot spring! There is an awesome hot spring spot at Renoa, about 30 minutes drive from Stateline. You can enjoy the hot spring that Mark Twain used to be.
