Eating in Lima — Peru

Lima's Cathedral in Centro Histórico by TravelVince

Yesterday I spent a few hours selecting recommendations and preparing a post at TravelVince for two friends who are on their way to Lima in Peru in a few weeks. I was surprised by the amount of great restaurants in the city, a truly gourmet destination in Latin America. There's also plenty of cool art to be seen, making it a perfect city getaway.

As most people just transit through Lima on their way to Arequipa or Cuzco, I would recommend at least two days in the capital to visit the MATE, Peruvian fashion photographer Mario Testino's own museum and the LUM, Lugar de la Memoria, for its striking architecture.

Add to those two days dinner at Central, Latin America's best restaurant, a drink at Barra 55, brunch at Tanta and lunch at El Mercado and you will leave Lima very happy indeed.
