With little more than 3,000 inhabitants, Stein am Rhein may well be a small village but it is remarkable for the concentration of well preserved medieval buildings within such a compact area. The name ‘Stein am Rhein’ means Rock on the Rhine, which gives a glimpse of what you can find there, a beautiful village nestled by the river Rhine, near its mouth into Lake Constance, just a few meters away from the border with Germany. By car, it takes less than an hour to reach Stein am Rhein from Zurich (55 km), while the train ride takes 1h20min — 1h30min.:#travel #travelinter #Switzerland #backpackingfromhttps://astrofatimz.tumblr.com/post/162169659918
