Why people will pay for Starbucks Delivery

Starbucks has been in the news lately, flirting with the possibility of a delivery service. This may seem like a wild idea to some but, it’s exactly what the coffee giant needs to solidify its dominance within the coffee space. Why? Because they wouldn’t be playing in the coffee space, they would be playing in the human space.

How many times have you uttered the words “man, I wish Starbucks delivered”? I’ve said it at least 5 times this week. In a world where speed is the name of the game and everyone is trying to hack their day to day, having a coffee waiting in my lobby when I get to work would save 15–30 minutes of my time, which is valued higher than anything. That’s another meeting I can put on my calendar, another deal I could close, more money in my pocket and more coffee in my future. Would you pay an extra $2 delivery fee plus tip for a hot pumpkin spice latte to be waiting on you everyday at 8am? You betcha and you’ll think you’re getting one hell of a deal.

So, what are your thoughts? Would you pay for coffee to be delivered to your workplace? I have a sneaking suspicion its yes because we are all inherently selfish of our time and we all are wishing for more of it in our days.
