Donald Trump Jr. received Russian documents and they may have lead to Comey announcing the end of FBI’s second investigation of Hillary Clinton’s emails.

On July 8th, 2017, the New York Times broke the story that Donald Trump Jr. met with Russians who had offered information on Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential campaign. This June 9th, 2016 meeting at Trump Tower in New York was reported to have consisted of Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, and Paul Manafort.

The next day, Donald Trump Jr. confirmed this meeting and disclosed his email exchange with Rob Goldstone. As details about the meeting began to unfold in the coming days, other participants were revealed, including Magnitsky case lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, Russian lobbyist Rinat Akhmetshin, and publicist Rob Goldstone. Veselnitskaya and Donald Trump Jr. both allege this meeting was primarily about Russian adoptions and Donald Trump Jr. characterized the alleged intelligence provided on Hillary Clinton as “such a nothing.”

Natalia Veselnitskaya was the Russian lawyer who worked on the Magnitsky case, representing Denis Katsyv, who was accused by the Department of Justice of laundering Russian tax fraud proceeds and was also linked to the death of Sergei Magnitsky, the lawyer who was had investigated the scheme for Hermitage Capital Management.

On July 15th, 2017, AP reported:

In a statement Sunday, Trump Jr. said the attorney had said she had information that people tied to Russia were funding the Democratic National Committee and supporting Clinton, a description that Akhmetshin backed up in his interview with the AP.

In his first public interview about the meeting, Akhmetshin said he accompanied Veselnitskaya to Trump Tower where they met an interpreter. He said he had learned about the meeting only that day when Veselnitskaya asked him to attend. He said he showed up in jeans and a T-shirt.

Veselnitskaya brought with her a plastic folder with printed-out documents that detailed what she believed was the flow of illicit funds to the Democrats, Akhmetshin said. Veselnitskaya presented the contents of the documents to the Trump associates and suggested that making the information public could help the campaign, he said.

“This could be a good issue to expose how the DNC is accepting bad money,” Akhmetshin recalled her saying.

Essentially, Veselnitskaya appears to have provided Donald Trump Jr. with documents that included a funding connection between the DNC, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and George Soros, while also alleging Loretta Lynch said she would limit the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails.

Prior to this, on May 24th, 2017, CBS News reported:

A disputed Russian intelligence document obtained by the FBI during the 2016 election influenced the Bureau’s then-director, James Comey, to personally announce the end of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server last summer, the Washington Post reports. The existence of the document has been confirmed by CBS News.

The documented summarized an alleged email from then-Democratic National Committee chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Florida, to Leonard Benardo, an official at an organization founded by left-wing billionaire George Soros. In this email, according to the document, Wasserman Schultz said to Benardo that Lynch had told a Clinton campaign staffer, Amanda Renteria, that she would limit the FBI’s investigation into the email server.

The FBI later determined the document was either bad intelligence or possibly even a fake, and could be part of what sources tell CBS News was Moscow’s efforts to plant fake news “into the bloodstream” of the election to discredit Clinton and influence the presidential election.

The existence of these documents was corroborated by former FBI Director James Comey’s public testimony on June 8th, 2017 and they also included a funding connection between the DNC, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and George Soros. These documents also allege that Loretta Lynch said she would limit the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails. The documents were not only described as being of Russian origin, but also coming from a source that had previously provided information that could not be corroborated.

A Financial Times article was quoted by the Atlantic in a July 19, 2017 article that describes documents provided to Dana Rohrabacher aide Paul Behrends in 2012 regarding the Magnitsky case. Behrends allegedly “was telling people they were from the prosecutors’ office in Moscow.”

The FT reported that the person who gave Rohrabacher the document was Viktor Grin, a top aide to Yuri Chaika, the Russian prosecutor general with whom Veselnitskaya, the lawyer in the Trump Tower meeting, told the Wall Street Journal she was in contact.

Not only does it appear that Donald Trump Jr. received these uncorroborated financial documents from Veselnitskaya, but it also appears these documents were then provided to the FBI, which may have later lead to Comey’s decision to announce the closing of the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails instead of Loretta Lynch and the Department of Justice.

If this isn’t enough, the story of the Magnitsky case and its connection to the Trump campaign and the GOP itself continues to unfold. Not only was Rorabracher warned by the FBI in 2012 that he was a target of recruitment by Russian intelligence, and not only did Rorabracher know it and claim to have been a target since he was a teenager, but he also met with Manafort shortly after this (who was not registered as a foreign agent at the time), and he is now working with Jack Abramoff (where his Russian oil money laundering investigation went untouched during his casino scandal) who is now allegedly a lobbyist for undisclosed interests in South Africa (Leviev diamond trade perhaps?).

As if it couldn’t get any deeper, Abramoff, fresh out of prison, is now a registered lobbyist for Russian asset and alleged Mogilevich operative Dmitro Firtash. The rest of the story can be found here:
