I think this basically all boils down to the problem that something can only be new once.

But another big problem is originally, the “Stevenote” was something that just happened kind of organically because it was Steve’s nature. Now its become this pageant, this very staged and scripted event with applause lines and predictable outcomes. The problem of there not being that many parlor tricks left to insert into phones is compounded by the high expectations they create for themselves by insisting on announcing new products in that format so often. It’s a set up for a let down.
