I get what you’re saying, but even my friends who went to state schools have tens of thousands in debt. Yes, I signed the paperwork, but does a 17 year old truly understand how much things cost, and what a large chunk of their paycheck student loan payments are going to take up? Does a 17 year old really understand how long a 25 year payoff period is? Finally, could a 17 year old in 2006 have known that the recession was going to hit just before she graduated in 2009 and massively reduce the chances of a well-paying job?
