I don’t suppose that, here in the UK, men’s mental health is that much different, nor the pressures and sense of loneliness that much less than in the US.
My point here is that, true as it is, it certainly doesn’t account for the very great differences between the two countries in the firearm-related death rate per 100,000 population per year, namely 0.23 (UK 2011) and 10.54 (US 2014) (Wikipedia)
