Letter to TRON community: On Progress of TRON Mainnet And Ecosystem
Fellow Tronics:
We are one-third of the way through 2018, and I am happy to say that as of May, TRON is now one of the top 10 cryptocurrencies in the world. As our ranking stabilizes, the team continues to maintain a high standard for excellence. TRX is one of the highest performing cryptocurrencies in 2018.
Expectations for the future are even higher. Our next goal is to become one of the top 6 cryptocurrencies in the world. We have actually achieved top 6 briefly on January 5, 2018 during TRON’s astounding sprint out the gate. In 2018, we will reclaim and secure this title, which will mark TRON’s global status as a mainstream public blockchain and lay a solid foundation for competition with Ethereum.
Now that we are in the top 10, each move up will signify a significant change in the cryptocurrency structure. TRON is the youngest of the ten, but we are the most professional, with a team that brings experience from mainstream Internet companies like Alibaba. Compared to most stagnant crypto companies, TRON is agile and embraces change. In 2018, we will bring our young, professional approach, one that embraces change, into the lax and conservative structure of old. The TRON mindset is crucial for the healthy development of the cryptocurrency industry.
May is an exciting month for TRON. TronVM v.0.1 will be launched on May 25. This version of TronVM uses a VM Adapter that will enable complete compatibility with the Ethereum VM. All Ethereum developers will be able to use an adapter to migrate seamlessly from Ethereum dApp projects to TRON. Stay tuned for a reward program for Ethereum developers who migrate to our platform.
Mainnet (v. Odyssey 2.0) will be launched as planned on May 31. This version has undergone stringent benchmark tests in our labs and achieves a TPS that is hundreds of times above Ethereum. Odyssey 2.0 also offers high-availability and asynchronous snapshot and reply functionalities, which improve overall stability. We have also conducted high volumes of simulations, optimizing dozens of core parameters with binary exponential backoff (BEB) algorithms. The versions successfully resolve starvation and DDOS issues with normal distribution of resource usage throughout the blockchain, so users don’t have to pay a fee. Since TRON is Java-based and provides a developer-friendly environment, the industry will be able to break away from Ethereum and its low-efficiency, congestion-prone network, high fees, and steep learning curve. We will open the doors to a new cryptocurrency stage focused on scaling and commercialization, providing next generation infrastructure and express lanes needed for global dApp development.
June 1–24 will be a testing period for the mainnet. Testing will help prepare for the genesis block on June 25 and Super Representative Election on June 26. During this period, all developers are welcome to download Odyssey 2.0 for testing. Super Representative candidates are encouraged to register for election testing as well. TRON users can register at will and participate in simulated voting and opinion polls.
The TRON dApp ecosystem is taking form, with over 20 startup teams developing on TRON. The first batch of recommended dApps will be published on June 5, and will include apps for desktop, website, hot/cold wallets for mobile, and blockchain explorers. These dApps will go live after official mainnet launch on June 25. The TRON community is welcome to download and test.
Super Representative applications have been going very well, with 50 teams representing 10 countries across 4 continents in the running. SR candidates have diverse profiles, ranging from leading computing vendors, exchanges with billions in daily trading volume, dApp development partners, to teams organized by the TRON community (see attachment for SR candidates list). I believe the June 26 election will be a highly competitive one, and the election results will be a solid reflection of the community’s wishes.
The road ahead is a long one, but we will achieve our goals one step at a time. 2018 is just the beginning.
