This is a weekly blog about my spiritual and leadership growth through encounters with animals in nature. Each week I will publish two stories that reveal my learnings working with animal energy over the past few years. I have documented hundreds of encounters and learned to sharpen my intuition and grow spiritually from these encounters. Animal encounters reveal our shadows, they present themselves to guide our decisions, to challenge us to discern, to overcome our fears and expand. I have had thousands of synchronicities from these experiences, which often no logic can explain. The openness to working with nature intentionally has made navigating my life truly magical. Here’s the flow:

  1. Check out my first article, “Truth of the Jay”. I share my vision and process for working with animals and nature to lead my life decisions and grow. Each post is based on this process.
  2. I will share my personal experience with 2 animals each week. Each animal is numbered. In 12 months there will be 100 animals, 100 entries, 100 spiritual downloads for you to enjoy.
  3. Most pictures are from my own personal encounters. The biggest lesson I have learned from nature is authenticity. I capture pictures of most animal encounters and journal about their lessons and then log the photos so I can revert back to them during future encounters. Over time, I learned to use this process to track my development and growth working with the lessons and applying them to my life. The picture reinforces a visual of the experience and magically imprints that special encounter in my memory and in my heart.
  4. I will give you 7 life lessons that I have learned from working with these spirit animals. These lessons are sourced from dozens of spiritual sources and culture folklore that bring together common meaning to each animal through my own intuitive encounters. Why 7? Because 10 is too many, and 5 isn’t enough 😉. Creativity and imagination are the way we express our highest selves. Writing, painting, or whatever that is for you doesn’t need to follow a logical process, as long is it is an expressive extension of your true self.

June 12th, 2022

I was walking through Time Square in New York City on the way to one of the biggest meetings of my life. It was a meeting with business investors. I received only 24 hours notice and everything was on the line. Directly after the meeting, I had another big moment where I would be campaigning for a leadership opportunity with a non-profit. The feelings in my heart were overwhelmingly heavy. Two big meetings, so much at stake! The hamster wheel of overthinking started to run through my head in anticipation of the day. What if I screw this up? Am I good enough? What if the world finds out that I don’t belong here? Imposter syndrome is a very common thing for even the most successful people. But, trying to tell your mind that in the heat of the moment is a non starter 🤪.

This is where prayer, meditation and breathing have changed my life. Both of those meetings went just fine thst day. Probably better than I could have imagined. But, it was thst pause I tools walking through Time Square that made the difference. I sat down where the New Year’s Eve ball drops. There were lights and advertisements everywhere and thousands of people. In that moment of chaos and confusion, I closed my eyes and said a prayer of gratitude — Thank you universe for putting me here! Thank you for giving me the courage to navigate this life up to this moment. Thank you for all the experiences that have prepared me. I said, “NOW — this is your moment to be fully present, to breathe, to be YOU.” This is your moment to sing your sacred song. To be outstanding, you must be willing to stand out!

I opened my eyes with a new determination and joy for what was to come. I decided to have fun with the moment as it was a moment that I been preparing for all my life. The outcome was on the universe, but the action was on me. Step into your purpose and your soul’s voice. This is the lesson of the Mockingbird!

After that days’s meetings I had my first ever Mockingbird encounter in my backyard. Right on top of a tree, below which I am writing this article more than 3 years later. I am closing my eyes again now, breathing in the moment like I did on that day in Times Square. Thank you universe for this moment! Thank you for these 7 lessons of the mockingbird.

7 Lessons of the Mockingbird

  1. Mimic behaviors of those you respect: Mimicry is one of the great gifts of the Mockingbird message. They can recite the songs of more than 200 birds and even many animals. This is a lesson in learning and modeling the behaviors of others you respect. When you have an opportunity to stand out and speak your truth — master what the great mentors in your life embody. Preparation builds confidence, repetition builds muscle memory, authenticity ensures you deliver your message through your unique style and purpose. This is the Mockingbird’s formula for success.
  2. Big success is bringing together small habits with repetition and consistency over time: The BIG things take care of themselves when you focus on building incremental progress in the right direction. Mockingbird reminds you to keep going and celebrate life’s full realm of experiences on the way to your goals. Every small win reinforces that you are moving closer to your highest future self.
  3. Learn fast, move on faster. Living in past regret and resentment keep you stuck: everything you hold onto takes energy from what you can hold in the present. This is mostly true of mistakes. There is always a lesson — focus on that and bring it into your present actions and behaviors. Leave the energy of the past experience where it belongs. When Mockingbird arrives, it’s a reminder to recalibrate in the moment and quickly move toward the next opportunity in front of you where the lesson becomes a new tool to deploy for your benefit.
  4. The powerful duality of distraction: Mockingbird reminds you that creativity is everywhere. If you see a problem — that’s exactly what you will manifest. You will find yourself distracting yourself with negative thinking and coping mechanisms that keep you in fear. The answer to problem thinking is problem solving. This requires creativity. Creativity can be a positive distraction as it rewires your mind to focus on possibility and expression. Mockingbird reminds you to distract yourself with you creative endeavors. They will position you for a more open perspective of problem solving when you re-engage with your challenge. Creativity is the distraction from the trap of mental reaction.
  5. Form over substance: Mockingbird reminds you that how you stand in your authentic truth stands out more than landing that exact words you believe others want to hear. When you embody your true song, the words resonate with others because you are aligned in vibration, not because they are perfect. Build credibility through personal stories and a unique style that matches your personality. This is when others will not only hear your words, but feel them.
  6. Anchor on Gratitude in the face of fear: Mockingbird arrives when fear is clouding your vision. This a reminder that gratitude is always the solution to feelings of fear. What if I don’t get what I want? What if I lose what I have? This is the mind’s rally cry to reinforce your doubt. Remind yourself how blessed you are today! What has not worked out up until this point? — the answer is everything has because you are here!Sometimes the universe had a different plan than yours, but it always directed you to a place you could handle it and even thrive. Trust the universe’s this timing! Gratitude reframes the present moment for all possibilities to unfold.
  7. Sing the song of your soul’s sacred purpose: Your inner voice is the song of soul. You were endowed with this voice so that you could share it with others. It was given to you so you could sing it out loud free of fear. Your Sacred song will carry you or even others. Mockingbird reminds you of your gifts, which can be running, singing, cooking, writing, leading, or any “thing” that brings out your passion. The universe gifted you with this sacred purpose, your purpose is to share it with the world. This is the path to your highest embodiment and being in this moment, and every moment.
