The Unsung Heroes of Film Creation

Besides the actors, cameramen, directors and other main roles needed for a production of a movie, there are many other jobs that often get unnoticed. Sure, they are mentioned in credits at the end, but who still reads the credits? Probably nobody, we are here for the movie. Nevertheless, there are many of specific types of jobs needed for making a movie happen, without which the movie couldn’t be made. Some of them you don’t know and in some of them you might be interested to work in. It’s a blooming business and working behind the scene is equally important as the work in front of the camera.

  1. GRIPS
This are grips and there’s a number of them behind the camera. So, a lot.

In a film production, there are certain crews which are responsible for best movie shots you’ve ever seen, but never thought how they did it. They are carpenters, designers, light boys and camera assistants. These are all the people that make things happen. For example, let’s say a film scene needs a shot in some kind of unconventional aerial shot. Hence, these key grips construct stations to hold camera easily in such shots and much, much more.

2. STUNTMEN

Your job is to jump around (and risk your life sometimes)

When we watch an action movie, there will always be a person who does incredible scenes and makes us hold our breath and wonder what will happen next. And we wonder how an actor could do such incredible things without breaking a sweat? And the answer is stuntman of course. They are like superheroes(which would the job name imply), but without the drama all around them. Stuntmen are the people who walk a small invisible line between life and death. They are the people who make the actor of that movie look really cool. Some stuntmen turn into an actor and some actors perform stunts by themselves like the actor ‘Akshay Kumar’.

3. BACKGROUND DANCERS/ARTISTS

And their job is to dance (and also risk their life when there’s a bad screenplay)

They are the artists who put all of their effort to bring out a scene or a song in a film. Yet, there is no one who appreciates their work as the main actor is the one who shines in the scene and hence people talk about the lead character. Yet if al those background artists didn’t exist, then the whole scene would loose its charm. These crews are the ones who perform in backgrounds and they are faded in background itself. Oh, the irony.

4.SOUND MIXING ARTISTS

The importance of thing you don’t notice

Whenever we watch a movie our focus will not go on the background music initially as we majorly focus on the scene. Yet there are types of music which are played in the background on the particular type of scene and that attracts us to the scene more. Sound mixing artists are one of those unsung heroes of film industry whose names are rolled lastly in the credits. Yet their contribution in film industry could not be taken for granted.
