With crowdsourcing it’s extremely difficult to ensure quality — especially while the user-base is small (makes it easy for people to self-promote).

I mean, look at the Play Store — technically that’s ‘crowd-sourced’, in that downloads and ratings are the two major factors that affect rankings. And we all know how that turned out :)
