A 2021 Mintel survey found that 58% of the survey’s participants claimed that they still prefer the cereal flavors today that they loved when they were much younger. Cereal gives us feelings of comfort and convenience, but especially nostalgia, and is actually the go-to breakfast option for 49% of Americans today.

From Kulick’s French Toast Recipes comes this infographic that ranks the 19 most popular cereal based on their boxes sold, and no cereal dominates the market like Cheerios.

What’s the most popular kind of cereal?

Cheerios is the most popular type of cereal, with an estimated 139.1 million boxes sold each year, for $435.9 in sales on an annual basis. The Cheerios brand itself claims the top two spots on this list of the most popular cereals, as the second-ranked cereal is Honey Nut Cheerios, with 129.3 million boxes sold for $421.7 million in sales on an annual basis.
