One month at Yammer: This week I learned…
Personal learning:
- People really like honest narratives about salary negotiation.
- Being emotionally vulnerable on the internet takes an emotional toll. So exhausted this week.
PM Learning:
- One of the most effective things you can do for your team is provide a sense of momentum. Remember that everything you communicate about the product/project is part of that momentum story. Keep it thriving.
- We have such sweet, sweet data at Yammer. The kind you read about in hypothetical startup blogs about A/B testing. What a treasure trove for post-experiment analysis!
- The key to passing the yammer PM homework is finding and addressing the tradeoffs in your product decisions.
- Everything in life is a tradeoff.
Physical learning:
- Catamaran sailing is a delight. Because the boat weighs nothing, the feedback loop between your action and the speed of the boat in the wind is almost instantaneous. Such a pleasure to learn a new physical skill.
- In Ultimate Frisbee the “break side” of the stack is into the force... where the marker is trying to prevent a throw.
Not learning:
- Notably did NOT learn how to save a gif from a tweet. REALLY want to have this one at my finger tips for Yammer Giffing. Sad times.

Writing:
