Why I Love Mindy

Lately I’ve been watching (errr… binging on) The Mindy Project.

How did I not know about this show before now? How did its greatness not reach my ears?? Regardless, those are questions for another time—now is the time to extoll the virtues of Mindy Lahiri, and the Mindy that created her.

What a kick-ass, rock-hard, high-power, ditz!

Wait… what? Ditz? Like, a “classic blonde” or a bimbo? A space case? How could that possibly be a good thing?

But that’s exactly what makes Mindy such a phenomenal media idol: she’s not an ideal.

What a beautiful reprieve from the expectation that successful women have to be serious women, with their whole lives neatly put together in their perfect handbags.

What a load off….

It’s absolutely liberating to watch a woman who can be successful & be a floozy. Who can run a successful medical practice & oogle over some great nails or the latest celebrity fad. Who can get sh!t done & make terrible choices in men and cocktails.

Sure, Mindy’s life is a mess and everything is falling apart, but you know what… she’s intelligent, competent, confident and accomplished. Everything will be just fine.
