Do non trolls simply hear what they want to hear even when faced with direct evidence of the proper interpretation of a conversation? Do Trolls desire actual evidence before arriving at a conclusion? If so, I suppose I am in fact…a Troll. If I did not respect your opinions and know it to be untrue I would think you a fool for willingly following this media/Democrat pied piper.
So what did Trump mean…..I expect that he had a wishful desire (ie “hope”) that the investigation would end by either finding nothing or simply resolve quickly (ie “drop this”).
Dropping an investigation is not against the law. Trump talking to his employee and telling them a desire, as opposed to an order or directive, is not against the law. So did he directly order Comey to force him to end an investigation? Well according to the testimony of Comey given under oath, the person who was in the very best position to interpret the comments as a threat or an order, stated he did not and that Trump did not interfere.
HIRONO: So if the Attorney General or senior officials at the Department of Justice opposes a specific investigation, can they halt that FBI investigation?
COMEY: In theory yes.
HIRONO: Has it happened?
COMEY: Not in my experience. Because it would be a big deal to tell the FBI to stop doing something that — without an appropriate purpose. I mean where oftentimes they give us opinions that we don’t see a case there and so you ought to stop investing resources in it. But I’m talking about a situation where we were told to stop something for a political reason, that would be a very big deal. It’s not happened in my experience.
