There is little doubt that the number of uninsured people will rise if you stop forcing people and businesses to provide insurance to people who either can not or choose not to purchase insurance on their own. That’s pretty simple math. However, we must ask, is the goal to provide everyone with free insurance or to provide everyone with healthcare? if the goal is to provide insurance, or in effect to transfer wealth in our society from the employed healthy middle class to others, then Obamacare is just fine. If the goal is to assure everyone has access to medical care, perhaps there are other ways to consider that are both more effective and more economical.
What irritates me is that no bill seems to have incentives to encourage individual health and healthy lifestyles. Sorry but the jogger who eats his veggies should pay less than the couch potato who lives on pork rinds.
