CEO Advice from a New CEO

Great post Biz Stone, I feel this blog was written for me because I’m a new CEO, I’m the CEO of Txtter so thank you. I think the most valuable advice for me here is about firing people. The other stuff you mentioned I feel comes second nature to most CEO founders, well at least the smart ones. But the firing people gets overlooked probably because of the inexperience of the new CEO in feeling guilty, so we definitely need to put emotion a side and be vigilant not only on performance, but attitude and team dynamic too.

An important point I feel you haven’t mentioned, is hiring. I think hiring is very important and it starts right from the beginning, make sure you choose the right co-founder because that’s the foundations of your company. When hiring future employees, it’s important to look for passion and not just experience. Their body language, eye contact and voice tone are great signs to look out for. I think being a great judge of character is also important in being a CEO.
