UE.co’s community involvement initiative goes beyond selecting local nonprofits to sponsor; if employees have a nonprofit program that is special to them, they are encouraged to speak out. UE.co’s strategic marketing manager, Laura, shares her story of volunteering with a San Diego nonprofit and how UE has supported her efforts:
“For the past three years, I have volunteered as a mentor with East County San Diego YoungLives. The nationwide nonprofit is a ministry focusing on empowering and equipping teenage mothers with the tools needed to provide a healthy life for them and their children.
As a mentor I empower young moms to make positive choices, set and achieve goals and live a healthy life through spending quality time, tutoring, assisting with college applications, and financial budgeting.
UE.co has shown that they value me as more than just an employee by donating to East County YoungLives. With the sponsorship, The YoungLives team and I will be able to host workshops like healthy eating on a budget and provide transportation for the mothers and children to attend our annual, week-long camp in Arizona.
