In recent months our organization has been focused on the promotion of the concept good governance in Ukraine.
Good governance is an approach to how public institutions conduct public affairs and manage public resources. The term governance can apply to corporate, international, national, local governance or to the interactions between other sectors of society.
We think this concept is extremely vital for the further transition of Ukraine.
In September, Oleg Nesterenko, the Head of NGO Urban Forms Center, went to Berlin, Germany and took part in the Goerdeler Kolleg for Good Governance supported by the DGAP and Robert Bosch Stiftung. It was a 24 day programme during which the participants could discuss the issues of good governance and modern politics in Germany. Additionaly, the participants had a possibility to conduct expert interviews with the local authorities.
Oleg Nesterenko visited the City Senate of Berlin and had talks about city planning, spartial development, participation policies, volunteer organizations and their cooperation with the City Senate.
In the upcomming articles Oleg Nesterenko will share his findings.
In conclusion, we would like to invite the international and local organizations in Ukraine for cooperation and promotion of the concept of good governance in Ukraine.
Two weeks ago Oleg Nesterenko and Iryna Bursuk from startus.cc conducted the training at the America House. The topics for discussion were good governace and community building. This was the very first event from the series “Dialogue” scheduled for 2015/2016.
