Summer 2017 Social Media Review
It’s late August and even though summer is not officially over, it’s the beginning of another semester at The University of New Hampshire, which means summer is coming to a close for many students, faculty, and staff members. Summer in Durham, NH was quiet, but we still were busy creating content and preparing for the school year ahead. Classes begin Monday, August 28, with move-in arriving this weekend. Before we begin another academic year, let’s take a look back at some social media highlights from the summer.

Facebook:
This summer we had some highly engaging posts, but nothing was higher than the June 21st post where The National Council for Home Safety and Security ranked UNH the safest college in the nation for 2017. The post reached 144,317 people and had a total of 617 shares with 286 comments and about 3,000 reactions, which was mostly likes and love. The Facebook post also had over 5,500 clicks to the article, which was not hosted on our .edu domain, but was still a positive story about our campus and our community.
Other top Facebook posts this summer included:

A swell video showcasing campus and the seacoast region, asking both students & parents to book a tour with admissions and come visit the most beautiful campus in America.

The (603) Challenge photo sharing contest, won by UNH Cheerleading. Facebook fans voted for their favorite photo to help a certain UNH program receive additional funds during our summer fundraiser.
We also had a high engagement rate with our recent ‘Hate Has No Home at UNH’ post by President Mark Huddleston. It had more than 330 shares the last time we checked. 💙
At the end of the summer, the UNH Facebook Page earned 1,475 new likes since commencement day last May, bringing us to 49,740 fans strong.
