UXTesting - a collaborative solution for better usability testing

When you set a goal to build something for the entire human race, it requires you to keep both fearlessness and humility in mind to keep you on the right track. Why humility? Because at some point you run into the walls of your own world and your sense of humility reminds you 1) where your users stand and 2) why you are doing something in a certain way. That is to say, user experience is everything when you are building something. You have to evaluate utility and usability over beautiful interface sometimes. In this case, user research is a good way to find useful insights from your user’s behavior.

However, finding a user to test out your apps isn’t always an easy task. The scene unfolds like that of a police interrogation scene. You have to invite a user to your office, have him/her test out your app, install cameras to capture the user’s reactions, and have people seated behind a coated glass window to document the entire process. It’s simply too much work and isn’t practical or affordable for teams. This is what UXTesting is all about — to simplify this process.

After partnering with several design consulting companies and months of discussion, we decided that rather than solely becoming a user testing tool, UXTesting should also be a collaborative platform for user research, allowing teams to share ideas and opinions effortlessly. By generating shareable URL links and implementing comment sections, we want to take the idea of “sharing” and put it into action. Yep, that’s right, UXTesting cares about sharing. With that being said, here are four other features that we’d like to share with you:

1. User Videos: testing videos aren’t necessarily a unique feature. In fact, design consulting company have been recording user reactions since the beginning. What we cares about at UXTesting is not what you’re recording, but rather how your team can make use of the videos. That is to say, we think testing videos are meant to be shareable. You can share videos to your coworkers with a simple URL links and also utilize our chat rooms in order to spur a productive discussion. Ultimately, we want to minimize the effort in sharing videos in order to make communication easier.

2. Heatmaps: Our heatmaps is great at generating qualitative and quantitative data from user patterns. Every user’s behavior is different based on different experiences. The heatmaps allows you to collect each user’s unique pattern. A complete heatmaps gives you an unbiased and totally objective data point for your research.

3. User Flows: Yes, we have a real user flows! You don’t have to “imagine” and “guess” your user’s app navigation anymore. We help provide you with your user’s navigational behavior, in which you can view to help improve your app’s navigation experience. This will ensure your user’s experience is friendly and smooth.

4. Crash Playback: Don’t worry if the camera stops recording when your apps crash. We collect every moment for you. The crash point will be uploaded to uxtesting.io and you can examine the videos at any time.

5. Emotion Detection: As the only, and first, UX testing service to employ emotion detection technology, we help you understand when your users are happy, confused, or anything in between.
