3 Examples of Beautiful and Intentional Web Design

Unfortunately, either as a result of the client or the uninformed designer, most web design focuses entirely on the aesthetics or respecting brand identity as oppose to the goals of the business and users. I can’t even count the number of times I have become frustrated with a site and lament that “it’s pretty, but not much else.” However, nothing excites me more than a design that truly nails it. Below, I have compiled three designs that not only innovate and inspire designers, but do so while guiding the users with ease.

Modafinil Cat: Describing Product Differences Above the Page Fold

For all you biohackers out there, you might know this one. This India based online pharmacy was aware of what they would have to overcome in order to sway consumers all over the world to trust an online pharmacy with supplying with a top notch product and service. While incorporating friendly, yet professional branding, they immediately address one important question; What is the difference between their products without requiring the users to go below the page fold. Moreover, they do so with easily comprehensible metrics that most aspiring biohackers look for and understand. There is so much to be said about this carefully thought out design, but I’ll leave that for another post.

2. WeWork: Value Propositions Laid Out with Ease

It seems that everybody goes for your standard infinite scroll one page website with anchor links. Well, one of the reasons for that is because it is easy to mirror that experience on multiple devices and removes the need to click on links, therefore increasing the likelihood that you will that the users will see most of the content you worked so hard to craft. That said, we work, tweaked this approach a little bit and instead used clear iconography to demonstrate their value points on one page. The advantage to going this route is that you can not only see all the of the benefits in front of you and click on the ones that attract you, but it ensures that you are at least exposed to all of the content before giving up and scrolling back up.

3. Casper: For Guiding The Users Beneath the Page Fold

When browsing on most e-commerce sites, people have a tendency to look at the slideshow or other features on the landing page and then proceed to some of the sub-pages to either check out products such as new arrivals. Casper, on the other hand, chose to curate their user’s experience a bit more by giving clear indications(to explore) the rest of the page. These arrows featured on the bottom of each of the anchor links not only allow the user to easily browse the rest of Casper’s message, but it saves the users a few microseconds in scrolling to the exact location of the next anchor link. As a result, the users can focus more so on the compelling visuals and text and then hopefully act on the last call to action.
