How to Deal With Your Past? EFT — Part:1
Fear Of Water
You might wonder why some people are extremely good at socializing while others can not even pronounce the word “Thanks” when someone gives them a seat in the subway, or why the lower back pain people have, would not heal after hours of helpful exercising and tons of medication. Fears emerge without any type of logical explanation. Fear of humiliation, betrayal, judgement are all people’s backgrounds which prohibitively exist in daily schedules.
In the 1980s, Roger Callahan was working with Mary who is in her 40s and struggling with fear of water. How can someone possibly afraid of water? Well, she was not able to leave the house when it is rainy, she would not swim or could not even wash herself in a bath. Even after numerous therapies, she was not able to take any further step. One day Mary was having an usual stomach ache during a session. Callahan, who is interested in acupuncture, decided to tap to her stomach point which is under the eye like in the image. Miraculously, her fear was eliminated like deleting a computer file with two clicks. Mary runs to her house and enjoys a fearless bath without a time restriction. Her fear was permanently gone!
After the surprising coincidence, Roger Callahan improves the method and names it as TFT (Thought Field Therapy) which will be later on simplified and renamed as EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) by Gary Craig.
Life Force Energy(Chi)
Traumas could lead to long term stress, low self-esteem, depression or even physical diseases like diabetes. When subconscious mind reveals a negative emotion, the natural balance of body is broken as long as mental triggers last, and as long as the mental triggers last, the life force energy(chi) loses its balance at the moment of traumatic event and whatever is conditioned to it.
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is treatment that consist certain tapping points to rebalance the energy which, at the end, could heal the body physically. By the time chi finds its regular balance, mental dilemmas won’t have found any response in the physical body itself.
How to Do it?
If the purpose is finding a remedy for the energy that lost its stability, at the beginning, the energy must be unstable. Which means subconscious mind has to put the traumatic feeling on the SURFACE during EFT’s application.
Once the feeling (stress, fear, depression, pain, etc.) is displayed, give an intensity level to the emotion from 1 to 10 and start tapping to the karate point for 10 times, then move on to other points as shown in the image starting from the Top of the Head and finishing at Under Arm Point. When you are done with all points, decide the emotion’s current intensity level. If it is not 0, repeat the whole process. SIMPLE :)
Putting the emotions at the surface might be uneasy because of the reverse psychology effect. The next article, will explain some ways for stimulating the traumatic feelings in order that we can get rid of these undesired obstacles.
