Daily Devos (February 16th)

Matthew 5:14–15, — “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.”

In this verse, Jesus is giving the Sermon on the Mount, and He is saying to all of His people that He has made us to be a light, just as He is the light of the world. When we allow Christ to come into our lives and transform us from the inside out, He places His light inside of us for the purpose of it shining out everywhere we go. In the society we live in, it’s so easy to try to hide that light away when it seems to be inconvenient to us and our own selfish desires. However, that light was never meant to be hidden.

This light is a gift that we have been given for the purpose of it being seen and shining out from us. When we allow that light to shine for the world to see, we are truly allowing Jesus to use us in a way that glorifies Him and points straight to His kingdom. He has made you to be a light that shines bright for Him today and every day :)
